Container Ball and Ships are Sinking

3-6th Grade
This week we will be playing one of the student's favorite games, Container Ball. This game is a action packed game that uses previously learned skills. The students will be broken up into two large teams. The object of the game is to get as many dodge balls as they can into the container on the opposite side of the gymnasium. The way they can get the balls into the container is either by throwing from their side or running onto the opposing teams side to toss it in. If they cross onto the opposing team's side they can be tagged with a dodge ball causing them to go into "jail". If they are in jail they can have a teammate throw them a ball, which they then have to catch it, in order to be freed. Once they are free they can either run back to their side or try to make a shot into the container. We will play timed rounds and then count the dodge balls in the containers.

K-2nd Grade
The students will use previously learned skills such as dodging, fleeing, skipping, running, and  gallopping in this action packed game. This game is called "Ships are Sinking". There will be a couple taggers to start out, who we call the sharks. I will call out "ships are sinking" and students will use different locomotor movements to get from one mat to another without being tagged by the sharks. If they are tagged then they become a shark. We will play different timed rounds for this game.
